How to Tag Users, Invite Collaborators, or Tag Products on Instagram Posts

This guide walks you through how to tag people, invite collaborators, or tag products in your posts.

🔹 Open Tagging Options

After uploading your photo in the post composer:

  1. Hover over the image preview.

  2. Click “Tag photo.”

  3. Choose your action:

    • Tag users

    • Invite collaborators

    • Tag products

👤 Tag Users in the Photo

Use this to credit accounts or mention partners directly in the image.

Steps:

  1. Select Tag users.

  2. Click anywhere on the photo.

  3. Enter the exact handle (e.g. @handle) and click Add.

  4. Repeat for more users if needed.

  5. Click Save.

🤝 Invite Collaborators

Use this to co-author the post with another account — ideal for creator partnerships and joint campaigns.

Steps:

  1. Under the Tag users tab, click + Invite collaborators.

  2. Search and select the account handle.

  3. The invited account will appear in the Collaborators section.

  4. Click Save.

📌 Note: The collaborator must accept the invite. Once accepted, the post shows on both profiles and is shared to both audiences.

🛍️ Tag Products

Tag items from your product catalog directly on the photo (available if your account has Instagram Shopping enabled).

Steps:

  1. Switch to the Tag products tab.

  2. Search for a product by name.

  3. Select it and place the tag on the photo.

  4. Click Save.

✅ Final Steps

Once you've added all relevant tags:

  • Review all users, collaborators, or products you've tagged

  • Click Save to confirm

  • Finish your caption and hit Share
