Updated over 5 months ago

How to Start Listening to Hashtags

  1. Contact Support: To activate hashtag listening add-on, reach out to our support team.

  2. Add Hashtags:

    • Go to Analyze > Listening Sources.

    • Click Add New Hashtag and input the hashtag you want to monitor.

What Hashtags Can Be Listened To?

There are two types of eligible hashtags:

✅ Type 1: Verified Brand Hashtags

These must be on TikTok’s Verified Brand Hashtag List, meaning:

  • The hashtag has appeared in ≥3 posts in the last 90 days, and

  • Those posts must either:

    • Be from your own business account, or

    • Mention your business account (e.g. @yourhandle)

💡 Tip: Use branded hashtags regularly in your own content to increase eligibility. Only the top 100 most-used hashtags will appear in the list to choose from.

✅ Type 2: Hashtags That Contain Your Handle

Any hashtag that includes your TikTok handle (as a substring) is allowed, even if it’s not on the verified list.
Example: If your handle is @brandtok, the hashtag #brandtokdeals would qualify.

Technical Limits to Keep in Mind

  • Max 50 hashtags can be tracked per business

  • Note: Once you enable a hashtag for a brand, you cannot remove it in the next seven days.

How Posts Are Retrieved

If more than 1,000 posts contain brand hashtags, the top 1,000 posts with the highest number of likes will be returned.

TikTok returns posts that meet all of the following:

  • Include one of your verified hashtags in the caption

  • Are public

  • Fall within the 90-day lookback window

  • Are not from underage users: The post is not posted by a user who is underage or of an unknown age. For users in Europe, an age of 17 or under is considered underage, while for users in the US and other countries or regions, an age of 12 or under is considered underage.

🚨 If the hashtag doesn't meet eligibility, TikTok won’t return any data — even if added in the dashboard.
