How to Set Up an Alert for Spikes in Low-Rating Reviews

Get notified instantly when 1–2 star reviews surge. Use this alert to catch sudden drops in ratings and act fast on bugs, bad UX, or missed expectations.

Use Case

  • Detect a spike in 1–2 star reviews for any app or store

  • Investigate cause immediately (bug, version issue, pricing, etc.)

  • Route to CX, product, or QA teams via Slack or email


Step-by-Step: Set It Up

1. Go to: Workflows > New Workflow > Alert

Start from the main navigation and choose to create a new alert workflow.

2. Set Filter: Review Rating

  • Select Review Rating as your filter

  • Choose 1 and 2 stars

  • Optional: Add more filters for deeper precision

3. Define Threshold

Pick how sensitive you want the alert to be:

Option A: Absolute Volume

  • Get alerted when you receive at least X low-rating reviews in Y time

  • Example: "5 low-rating reviews in 1 hour"

Option B: Relative % Growth

  • Detect unusual spikes compared to your historical baseline

  • Example: "50% increase in low-rating reviews compared to the previous day"

4. (Optional) Enable: Include AI Analysis

If you're on Reputation+ or higher:

  • Toggle on Include AI Analysis

  • BrandBastion AI will summarize the themes, triggers, and sentiment in the spike

  • Get a digest that highlights why the low reviews happened
