Media Upload Types and Size Limits

Instagram

BrandBastion supports the following media file types and sizes for Instagram. The limits are established by Meta's API.

Images

  • Max. Number of Images Per Post: 10

  • Max. Image Size: 8MB

  • Supported File Types: .jpg

  • Aspect Ratio range: Must be within a 4:5 to 1.91:1

  • Minimum width: 320 (will be scaled up to the minimum if necessary)

  • Maximum width: 1440 (will be scaled down to the maximum if necessary)

  • Height: Varies, depending on width and aspect ratio

  • Color Space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will have their color spaces converted to sRGB.

Video

  • File Type: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.

  • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).

  • Video codec: HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.

  • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.

  • Picture size: Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920

  • Required aspect ratio is between 0.01:1 and 10:1 but we recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space.

  • Video bitrate: VBR, 25Mbps maximum

  • Audio bitrate: 128kbps

  • Duration: 15 mins maximum, 3 seconds minimum

  • File size: 1GB maximum

Facebook

BrandBastion supports the following media file types and sizes for Facebook. The limits are established by Meta's API.

Images

  • Max. Number of Images Per Post: 10

  • Max. Image Size: 8MB

  • Supported File Types: .jpg and png

Video

  • File type: MOV, MP4 or AVI

  • Aspect Ratio: 9x16, 16x9

  • File size: 1GB maximum

  • Sample Rate: 48 kHz

  • Channel Layout: Stereo or Mono

  • Codec: AAC

  • Bit Rate: up to 256 kbps


TikTok

BrandBastion supports the following media file types and sizes for Tiktok. The limits are established by TikTok's API.

Video

  • File type: MOV, MP4 or WebM

  • Supported codecs: H.264 (recommended), H.265, VP8, VP9

  • Framerate restrictions: Minimum of 23 FPS

    Maximum of 60 FPS

  • Picture size restrictions

    • Minimum of 360 pixels for both height and width

    • Maximum of 4096 pixels for both height and width

  • File size: 4GB maximum

  • Duration restrictions: All TikTok creators can post 3-minute videos, while some have access to post 5-minute or 10-minute videos.


LinkedIn

BrandBastion supports the following media file types and sizes for LinkedIn.

Images

  • Max. Number of Images Per Post: 20

  • Max. Image Size: 5MB

  • Supported File Types: .jpg and .png

Video

  • Maximum file size: 5GB

  • Minimum file size: 75KB

  • Maximum video duration: 15 minutes

  • Minimum video duration: 3 seconds

  • Resolution range: 256x144 to 4096x2304

  • Aspect ratio: 1:2.4 - 2.4:1

  • Frame rates: 10fps - 60 fps

  • Bit rates: 192 kbps - 30 Mbps

Document

  • Supported File Types: PDF

  • Maximum file size: 100MB

  • Maximum number of pages: 300


X (fka Twitter)

BrandBastion supports the following media file types and sizes for LinkedIn.

Images

  • Max. Number of Images Per Post: 4

  • Max. Image Size: 5MB

  • Supported File Types: .jpg, .png

GIF

  • Resolution should be <= 1280x1080 ( width x height)

  • Number of frames <= 350

  • Number of pixels (width height num_frames) <= 300 million

  • File size <= 15Mb

Video

Recommended:

  • Video Codec: H264 High Profile

  • Frame Rates: 30 FPS, 60 FPS

  • Video Resolution: 1280x720 (landscape), 720x1280 (portrait), 720x720 (square)

  • Minimum Video Bitrate: 5,000 kbps

  • Minimum Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps

  • Audio Codec: AAC LC

  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (landscape or portrait), 1:1 (square)

    Required:

  • Frame rate must be 60 FPS or less

  • Dimensions must be between 32x32 and 1280x1024

  • File size must not exceed 512 mb

  • Duration must be between 0.5 seconds and 140 seconds

  • Aspect ratio must be between 1:3 and 3:1

  • Pixel aspect ratio: Must have 1:1 pixel aspect ratio

  • Only YUV 4:2:0 pixel format is supported

  • Audio must be AAC with Low Complexity profile. High-Efficiency AAC is not supported

  • Audio must be mono or stereo, not 5.1 or greater

  • Must not have open GOP

  • Must use progressive scan
