How to Use the Change Sentiment Workflow

You can enhance data insights by automatically adjusting sentiment based on keywords or tags.

Updated over 10 months ago

πŸ”„ What This Workflow Does

The Change Sentiment Workflow updates the sentiment of a comment when specific conditions are met β€” such as keyword matches or tag triggers. Use it to:

  • Shape sentiment around brand-specific expressions

  • Reflect industry context more accurately

  • Refine reporting

πŸ’‘ Smart Use Cases

Deploy the workflow to handle high-impact scenarios:

  • Flag competitor praise as negative
Example: β€œI love [Competitor Brand]” β†’ Sentiment: Negative

πŸ“Œ Note: For Reputation and Engage clients, this is applied by default. Only set this up manually if you're on an Essential plan.

  • Amplify viral-style praise
Comments like β€œ[Name in the photo] >>>>” may default to Neutral, but you can reclassify them as Positive to capture fan enthusiasm.

  • Reframe community-specific expressions
Example: β€œI’m dying 😩 those 60 seconds killed me”
β†’ In fitness, this shows intensity and engagement β†’ mark as Positive
β†’ In healthcare, it may reflect dissatisfaction β†’ mark as Negative

🧠 Why It Matters

Not all language fits textbook definitions of sentiment. Slang, sarcasm, and cultural tone vary by industry.

Use this workflow to:

  • Align sentiment signals with how your brand interprets audience tone

  • Support moderation and engagement teams with more relevant triggers

  • Keep reporting sharp β€” especially in campaigns and quarterly reviews
