Influencer Detection on Instagram

Updated over 4 months ago

BrandBastion’s influencer detection feature helps you identify and engage with influencers interacting with your brand on Instagram. This feature provides follower counts for users who comment, mention, or DM your brand, enabling you to identify potential collaborations, amplify positive sentiment, and address concerns swiftly.

Key Benefits

  • Discover collaboration opportunities: Identify influencers already engaging with your brand for authentic partnerships.

  • Amplify positive PR: Get real-time alerts when influencers interact positively with your brand.

  • Proactively manage crises: Address negative interactions from high-following influencers before they escalate.

How It Works

  1. Follower Counts

    • The feature retrieves follower counts for public Instagram accounts (Instagram business or creator accounts) with at least 100 followers.

  2. Integration

    • Influencer data is displayed directly in your BrandBastion inbox, alongside the comment.

Set up an alert for when an influencer engages with your brand

Stay on top of influencer interactions by setting up automated alerts for Instagram comments, mentions, or DMs. Use the Instagram Followers filter to target influencers within specific follower count ranges, ensuring you're notified of every critical interaction.

Steps

  1. Go to Workflows

    • Navigate to the Workflows section in your dashboard.

  2. Set Up an Email Alert

    • Choose the Email Alert option for notifications.

  3. Use the Instagram Followers Filter

    • In the Instagram Followers dropdown, select the follower count range you'd like to track.

    • For example, you can select 250,000–500,000 and 500,000–1,000,000 to monitor mid-tier influencers.

  4. Choose a Trigger Threshold

    • Decide how often you want to be alerted:

      • Volume-Based Threshold: Set a minimum number of interactions to trigger an alert.

      • Or For Every Interaction: Select "every time a new conversation"

  5. Save and Activate

    • Finalize your settings and save the workflow.

Create different email alerts for different interactions:

  • for owned interactions (comments/ad comments/DMs)

  • for earned (mentions)

  • sentiment (positive vs negative)

Filter interactions by following count

Easily narrow down interactions in your inbox based on Instagram follower count. This filter helps you focus on influencers or accounts that matter most to your brand.

Steps

    • Open the Sidebar in your inbox view.

  2. Filter by Instagram Followers under "Users"

    • Find the Instagram Followers dropdown in the filter options.

    • Select one or multiple follower count ranges and click apply.

    • Once applied, your inbox will only display comments, mentions, or DMs from accounts that fall within the chosen follower ranges.

  3. Refine Further (Optional)

    • Combine this filter with other criteria, such as sentiment or engagement type, to focus on specific interactions.

FAQs

Why doesn’t the follower count always show for all Instagram comments?

  • Follower counts are only available for public accounts (Instagram business or creator accounts). Private accounts cannot be analyzed due to API restrictions.

2. How often is the follower count updated?

  • Follower counts are updated once a week or when the user engages again, whichever happens sooner.

  • Exceptions:

    • Accounts with fewer than 1,000 followers or private accounts are updated when the user engages again.

3. Is this feature available for platforms other than Instagram?

  • Currently, this feature is only available for Instagram. When enabled, the feature will be applied across all assets in that account, you can't select which assets will have it.
