Understanding Moderation Impact Dashboards

See the business outcomes behind your moderation activity: hours saved, response speed, after-hours coverage, and the lift in audience sentiment from hiding harmful content.

Available on Reputation+ plans and above.

When to Use This

Use the Moderation business impact widgets to:

  • Get a clear read on overnight and weekend risk by seeing how much harmful content is handled outside working hours.

  • Understand how quickly harmful comments are taken down once BrandBastion receives them.

  • See how much hiding harmful comments lifts the sentiment your audience actually sees on your posts, compared to what they'd see if nothing was hidden.

Where to Find It

Open the Analyze → Activity log → Moderation & Alerts page.

The Moderation business impact section appears below the existing Summary of BrandBastion actions and reflects the date range and channels you have selected at the top of the page.

📌 Note: All four widgets recalculate automatically when you change the date range or the selected profiles.

How it works

Every harmful comment that BrandBastion hides leaves a record of what happened: when the comment was first received, when the hide was applied, whether it succeeded, and which workflow (if any) was responsible.

The four widgets summarise that record across the date range and channels you have selected:

1. Hours Saved with Moderation

What it shows: Estimated team time saved because BrandBastion hid harmful comments instead of your team doing it manually.

How it's calculated: One minute per hidden harmful comment, totalled and displayed in whole hours.

This matches the Time Saved with BrandBastion figure for hidden harmful comments in Control Panel. Even if you adjust the per-message time estimate in Control Panel, this widget continues to use 1 minute per comment to keep the value consistent with the section's tooltip.

2. Time to Hide (Median)

What it shows: The median time between when BrandBastion received a comment and when it was hidden.

How it's calculated: For every comment received in the selected period that was later hidden by an active Hide workflow, BrandBastion calculates how long the hide took. Those durations are sorted shortest to longest, and the middle value is shown as the median. Displayed as minutes and seconds, for example 3m 40s.

What's included and excluded:

  • Includes only hides applied by Hide workflows.

  • Excludes any comment that was hidden manually through the social platform's own tools (those don't have a BrandBastion timestamp to measure from).

  • Excludes comments that were never hidden.

  • Excludes any individual hide that took longer than 2 hours, treated as a data outlier rather than typical performance.

3. After-Hours Moderation

What it shows: The share of harmful comments that BrandBastion hid outside your team's configured working hours.

How it's calculated: Of all the harmful comments BrandBastion hid in the period, the percentage that landed outside the days and hours set in your account's Working hours settings.

📌 Note: Hover the widget to see exactly which working-hours settings are in effect — days of week, start and end times, and timezone.

4.Visible Net Sentiment Score (NSS) versus Total

What it shows: Side-by-side donut charts comparing the sentiment of only visible comments (what your audience actually sees) against all comments (visible plus hidden). The difference is the audience-perception lift you get from hiding harmful content.

How NSS is calculated: NSS = (% Positive + % Neutral + % User Tag) − % Negative

The same formula is applied to both donut charts.

Alerts Sent — What Changed in the Summary

The Summary of BrandBastion actions section now includes an Alerts sent widget showing how many alerts were delivered in the period.

  • Reputation+ and Agent+ plans: Alerts sent replaces the Replies issued widget.

  • Engage+ plans: Alerts sent is added as a fifth widget alongside the existing four.

Including These Widgets in Reports

The four new widgets can be added to scheduled and downloadable reports.

  • Open any Scheduled report or use Download report PDF from the Moderation & Alerts page.

  • Existing reports start with the new widgets unchecked. Tick the ones you want to include, then save the schedule or download the PDF.

📌 Note: Monthly scheduled reports are sent on the first day of each month and include data from the previous month.

Limitations

BrandBastion-side

  • Time to hide only counts hides applied through a Hide workflow. A comment your team hid manually in the social platform won't appear in the median.

  • Time to hide removes any individual hide above 2 hours from the calculation. Persistent platform delays or workflow misconfigurations can push real hides above this cap and they won't show up in the metric until corrected.

  • Hours saved uses a fixed 1-minute baseline regardless of the per-message estimate you may have customized in Control Panel. The two figures stay in sync because both use 1 minute on this page.

  • Data refresh cadence for these widgets we are calculating the data on the fly.

  • Failed hides - attempts that the platform rejected (for example a comment deleted before the hide call completed) are not counted in any of the widgets (needs confirmation).

  • Per-plan visibility: The Moderation business impact section is available on Reputation+ plans and above. Accounts on lower plans don't see the section.

Platform-side

  • LinkedIn doesn't expose a hide action through its API. BrandBastion uses a delete action instead, which permanently removes the comment. Those events are still counted as hides in these widgets.

  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram) restricts hiding to comments posted within the last 90 days. Older comments that match a Hide workflow may never get hidden by the platform and therefore won't contribute to Hours saved or Time to hide.

Edge cases & scenarios

What happens if I change my Working hours mid-period?

The widget uses the working-hours configuration that was active when each comment was hidden. Older comments in the same date range count against the older configuration; newer ones use the updated configuration.

Why is my "Hours saved" number different from the figure in Control Panel?

The Control Panel Time Saved with BrandBastion widget can include actions beyond hiding harmful content — for example time saved by AI replies or batch tagging. The Moderation & Alerts widget only counts hidden harmful comments, so the two numbers can legitimately differ.

What if a customer's account has no Working hours configured?

The After-hours moderation widget falls back to a default. The tooltip on the widget always shows the working-hours configuration actually used.

Why does my Time to hide show no value when I know the team hid comments?

The metric only includes hides applied by Hide workflows. Manual hides made directly on the social platform aren't tracked.

Does this work for date ranges before the feature launched?

Yes. The underlying hide records and timestamps have existed since well before this section was added, so the widgets show meaningful values for any historical date range you select.

A comment was hidden inside my date range but received before it — does it count?

No. Time to hide filters by when comments were received by BrandBastion, not when they were hidden. A comment received before the period and hidden inside it isn't included. The reverse is also true: a comment received inside the period and hidden after the period ends is included.

Troubleshooting

  • If a widget shows 0 unexpectedly, check the selected date range and profiles at the top of the page, and confirm at least one Hide workflow is active for those profiles.

  • If After-hours moderation looks higher or lower than expected, hover the tooltip to see the working-hours configuration in use. The wrong timezone is the most common cause of confusing numbers.

  • If Time to hide shows a value you don't recognise, remember the cap at 2 hours per individual hide. Unusually slow hides above the cap don't appear in the median and won't drag it upward.

  • If Alerts sent doesn't appear in the Summary of BrandBastion actions, check the plan tier. The widget shows for Reputation+, Agent+, and Engage+ plans. On Reputation+ and Agent+, it replaces the Replies issued widget; on Engage+, it's added as a fifth widget.
