Ad performance dashboard: connect Meta performance with community outcomes

Use Ad Performance to compare Meta campaign results with BrandBastion engagement, moderation, and response metrics in one reporting view.

What Ad Performance shows

The Ad Performance dashboard combines two data sets:

  • Meta performance metrics, including spend, ROAS, clicks, CTR, conversions, impressions, reach, CPC, CPM, and frequency

  • BrandBastion community metrics, including sentiment, moderation, response activity, and Community Management Score

This gives paid social teams a single view of media performance and the quality of the conversation generated by that media.

For example, you can identify campaigns that are driving strong paid results but also generating high volumes of negative or harmful comments, or compare strong-performing ads based on how effectively the community is being moderated and answered.

Where to find Ad Performance

Go to:

Analyze → Social reporting → Ad Performance

The dashboard is split into three reporting levels:

  • Campaigns

  • Ad sets

  • Ads

Each row represents an entity at the selected level.

Drill down from campaigns to individual ads

Use the dashboard to move from high-level performance into the specific ad sets and ads driving the results.

From Campaigns to Ad sets

Click a campaign name to open the Ad sets view.

BrandBastion automatically applies the selected Campaign ID as a filter.

From Ad sets to Ads

Click an ad set name to open the Ads view.

BrandBastion automatically applies the selected Ad set ID as a filter.

Active filters appear in the right-side filter panel. You can:

  • Remove individual filters

  • Use Clear all to reset them

  • Switch between reporting tabs while keeping active filters

BrandBastion community metrics

The same BrandBastion metrics are available across Campaigns, Ad sets, and Ads.

CM score

CM score provides a 0 to 100 view of how effectively the community around an entity is being moderated and responded to.

It is calculated using Moderation Rate and Response Rate:

  • If both are available: (Moderation Rate + Response Rate) / 2

  • If only one rate is available, that rate becomes the score

  • If neither rate is available, CM score shows N/A

The result is rounded to the nearest whole number.

NSS

Net Sentiment Score (NSS) shows the overall balance of sentiment in the comment section.

It is calculated as:

(% positive + % neutral + % usertag) - % negative

If there are no comments, NSS displays N/A.

User comments

User comments shows the total number of user-authored comments associated with the campaign, ad set, or ad.

The dashboard also breaks scored comments into:

  • Positive comments

  • Negative comments

  • Neutral comments

  • Usertag comments

Each sentiment column shows the comment count and its percentage of total scored comments.

Moderation rate

Moderation Rate shows what percentage of harmful comments were hidden.

Calculation:

Hidden comments / Harmful comments × 100

A harmful comment is any comment with a brand safety or brand suitability tag.

If there are no harmful comments, the metric displays N/A with the tooltip:

No harmful comments

Hidden comments

Hidden comments shows the number of comments that BrandBastion has recorded as hidden, whether the hide action took place inside or outside the platform.

Response rate

Response Rate shows what percentage of engageable comments received a brand response.

Calculation:

Brand comments / Engageable comments × 100

What counts as engageable depends on your BrandBastion setup:

  • Reputation+ plans: comments tagged AI - Response Needed

  • Agent+ / Engage+ plans: comments with engageable tags, such as Fan Community, customer service, or product interest, etc.

If there are no engageable comments, the metric displays N/A with the tooltip:

No engageable comments

Brand comments

Brand comments shows the number of comments posted by the brand.

These are typically replies to user comments, although not every brand comment is necessarily a reply.

Meta performance metrics

Ad Performance also includes Meta reporting metrics across campaign, ad set, and ad levels.

Available metrics include:

  • Status

  • Spend

  • ROAS

  • Link clicks

  • CTR

  • Cost per result

  • Conversions

  • Impressions

  • Reach

  • CPC

  • CPM

  • Frequency

Spend is displayed using the ad account's currency.

If Meta does not return a metric, or the metric is unsupported at the selected reporting level, BrandBastion displays N/A.

How Conversions and Cost per result are determined

The meaning of a Meta "result" varies by campaign objective.

BrandBastion determines a primary result action type for each row and uses it consistently for both Conversions and Cost per result.

When the campaign objective is available, BrandBastion maps that objective to the corresponding Meta action type.

If an objective-based result cannot be determined, BrandBastion falls back to a prioritized action type, such as:

  1. Purchase

  2. Lead

  3. Complete registration

  4. Link click

Conversions shows the number of actions for the selected result type.

Cost per result shows the corresponding cost for that same action type.

💡 Tip: Hover over either metric to see which result action type is being used for that row.

How totals and averages work

The first rows of the table give you roll-up views across the current filtered result set.

Total

The Total row combines metrics that can be meaningfully summed, including:

  • Spend

  • Comment counts

  • Conversions

  • Impressions

  • Reach

Rate and score metrics are not added together.

Average per campaign, ad set, or ad

The Average row provides a blended or average view for metrics such as:

  • CTR

  • Response Rate

  • Moderation Rate

  • CM score

  • NSS

For sentiment metrics, percentage badges are recalculated using the combined totals and denominator for the row. They are not calculated by averaging the percentages of individual campaigns, ad sets, or ads.

📌 Note: All summary figures are calculated across the full filtered result set, not only the rows currently visible on screen.

Understanding N/A values

An N/A value does not always indicate missing reporting data.

It can appear when a metric cannot be calculated meaningfully.

Common examples include:

  • CM score: neither Moderation Rate nor Response Rate is available

  • NSS: no comments are available

  • Moderation Rate: there are no harmful comments

  • Response Rate: there are no engageable comments

  • Meta metrics: Meta returned the field as null, missing, or unsupported at that reporting level

Count-based BrandBastion metrics default to 0 when an entity has no mapped engagement records. Rates remain N/A when their denominator is zero.

Metric tooltips

Hover over a metric header to see its definition and calculation details.

For BrandBastion metrics, tooltips explain:

  • What the metric measures

  • How it is calculated

  • What causes an N/A result

For Meta metrics, tooltips include:

  • The Meta Insights field or fields used

  • A plain-language definition

  • Relevant reporting caveats

This is particularly useful for Meta fields such as actions and cost_per_action_type, where a single API field can contain multiple result types.

When new data becomes available

When Ad Performance is enabled for a newly connected asset, BrandBastion automatically crawls the previous three months of available data.

Ad Performance refreshes once per day at 12:00 UTC.

  • If Ad Performance is enabled before 12:00 UTC, the first crawl runs that day.

  • If it is enabled after 12:00 UTC, the first crawl runs the following day.

Missing Meta permissions

If BrandBastion cannot retrieve Meta data because the connected account does not have the required permissions, the dashboard displays:

Missing permissions

Review the permissions on the connected Meta asset before using Ad Performance reporting.
