Ad Performance Alerts

Ad performance alerts help you catch KPI changes early, identify affected campaigns, and investigate issues before they impact budget.

How ad performance alerts work

Ad performance alerts monitor campaign, ad set, or ad-level KPIs and trigger when your configured threshold is met.

You can monitor:

  • ROAS

  • Cost per result

  • Conversions

You can also use campaign filters to control which campaigns are included or excluded from monitoring.

Setting your alert threshold

Ad performance alerts support two threshold types.

Absolute threshold

Use an absolute threshold when you want to trigger an alert based on a specific KPI value.

For example:

  • ROAS drops below 2.0

  • Cost per result rises above $25

  • Conversions drop below 50

This is useful when you have a clear performance benchmark that should always trigger attention.

Relative percentage change

Use a relative threshold when you want to identify significant changes compared with a previous period.

For example:

  • ROAS decreases by more than 20% compared with the previous week

  • Cost per result increases by more than 15% compared with the previous day

The available comparison periods are:

  • Previous hour

  • Previous day

  • Previous week

  • Previous month

📌 Note: The comparison period defines the baseline, not how often the alert can trigger.

How to reduce alert frequency

If an alert is too noisy, adjust the configuration based on how your team wants to respond.

Limit how often the alert can trigger

Turn on Limit alert frequency in the alert action settings.

For example:

Don't trigger this alert more than 1 time per week.

Use this when you want continuous monitoring but only need one notification within a defined period.

Narrow the campaigns being monitored

Use Include and Exclude campaign filters to focus the alert on campaigns that require active monitoring.

If no campaign filters are configured, the alert evaluates all campaigns available within the connected ad accounts and supported platforms in the workspace.

Adjust the threshold

Increase the percentage threshold if normal day-to-day movement is generating too many alerts.

Alternatively, switch to an absolute threshold when your team has a clear performance floor or ceiling.

What happens when an alert triggers?

When the configured condition is met, BrandBastion identifies the affected campaigns and sends the alert through your configured notification channels.

The alert can include:

  • Monitoring level, such as campaign, ad set, or ad

  • KPI and threshold

  • Affected campaigns

  • Campaign platform and ID

  • KPI value at the time of the alert

  • Recent comment context, when relevant comments are available

You can select Explore in BrandBastion to open the Ad Performance view with the relevant alert filters applied.

Triggered alerts are also available under Report & Monitor > Alerts.

Common use cases

Use ad performance alerts to:

  • Catch ROAS drops before inefficient spend continues

  • Flag rising cost per result across priority campaigns

  • Monitor conversion declines and investigate performance changes faster

  • Identify potential creative fatigue or targeting issues

  • Route performance issues to the right team without manually checking every campaign

FAQs

Does "previous week" mean I receive one alert per week?

No. Previous week is the comparison baseline, not the notification frequency.

The alert can trigger whenever the condition is met during an evaluation.

How often are ad performance alerts evaluated?

Ad performance data is evaluated daily using the latest available campaign data.

Can the same alert trigger on consecutive days?

Yes. If the configured condition remains true, the alert can trigger again unless you have enabled Limit alert frequency.

How do I receive only one alert per week?

Enable Limit alert frequency and configure the alert so it does not trigger more than once per week.

What happens if I do not add campaign filters?

The alert monitors all campaigns available from the connected ad accounts and supported platforms in your workspace.

Should I use a percentage change or an absolute threshold?

Use a percentage change when you want to detect meaningful movement relative to previous performance.

Use an absolute threshold when your team has a fixed benchmark, such as ROAS below 2.0 or cost per result above $25.

Why am I receiving alerts every day if I selected "previous week"?

Selecting "compared to the previous week" does not make the alert weekly.

It means BrandBastion compares the latest available KPI data with the corresponding previous-week data whenever the alert is evaluated.

Ad performance data is evaluated daily, so if the condition continues to be met, the alert can trigger again on subsequent days.

For example, if your alert is:

ROAS decreases by more than 20% compared with the previous week

and ROAS remains more than 20% below the comparison baseline for several days, the condition may continue to trigger.
